And so i return to provide you with information of what took place on Day - 2 of The dubai desert rock festival. Sorry to bore you guys out there who couldnt make it for DDRF but this is one thing I need to remember forever. Im not much a fan of metal music and hence I didn't go for day-1. This is not only a review its about how i got to ddrf
When Shaun and Nishant used to talk about DDRF i wasnt to interested because at that point of time I was quite worried about the upcoming exams and of course ball-boy. I knew that even if i was going to go for DDRF it would be strictly on Day-2 only, not Day-1 ..but at that time I didnt know who the headlining band was for Day-2 and so i had to wait to find out.
The exams got over and I was still quite unsure of whether I was going for DDRF or not finally i made a decision on the 8th at night and decided to get myself a ticket to see some of the best bands live. I asked Udai to buy me a ticket for Day-2 as he was going for Day-1 and Day -2 so luckily he bought me
my ticket on the 9th even though they were sold out at all the places i went to get a ticket.
On the 9th (the day i wasnt going on) i went for Raghav's Birthday party (Thanks to Raghav for the party ..it was loads of fun)so i spent almost the whole day there from around 11 in the morning till around 9 30 at night .I fell quite sick at around 7 o'clock and was very unsure about going for DDRF as i wasnt feeling well at all ..At 9 30 when Raghavs party got over i headed towards Udais house to bunk for a couple of days. When i reached Udais place , I went to sleep as in anycase Udai had gne for DDRF .He got back home at 1 30 and when i got up to ask him how the show was i wasnt feeling well still.
When i got up in the morning ,I realised how helpful a double dose of panadol can be but unfortunately my throat wasnt too good.A quick shower followed by a nice breakfast and we were out of the house. When we reached mall of the emirates we waited for the Bus which was to take us to the venue. Not only was the bus 30 mins late but it was also hard to spot , but luckly Udai saw it in the distance and we hopped on.We were the only ones in the bus .
We reached der at around 1:30 to be greeted by Nishant and Sk who had been sitting at the gates waiting to get in for the show. There were around 2 hours of chatting and hearing Robert Plant and his band practice their stuff that followed (They practiced Rock and Roll by Led Zep but unfortunately they didnt play that for the show :( :( :( i was really upset by that ..i kept on waiting for the song but it never came but other songs made up for it).I felt a bit sick and i knew my fever was rising..
I was the 5th person to enter through the gates ..felt good . After entering we ran towards the stage and stood right at the front waiting for the show to start..after half an hour of waiting , it was time ..it was time.
Junkyard Groove is made up of Ameeth Thomas(Vocals and Rhythm guitar), Siddharth Srinivasan(Lead guitar and Backing vocals), Craig Maxworth(Bass guitar and Backing vocals) and Jeremaiah Abraham(Drums).
IT started off with JUNKYARD GROOVE from Chennai ("Go Chennai").After a lot of cheering and the crowd going crazy they started playing and thats when my fever vanished .They were AMAZING. Each and every one of their songs made me feel like they had created the song for me. Their music was so natural , so upbeat that it got the crowd ready for what was to follow. Their music is really catchy especially songs like Its ok and Thank you. All of there songs were just sooooo sooo good and I got to see them live
Everybody was head banging to the bass drum with the semi head-bang and da foot tapping and jumping. I felt sorry for each and every person who had bought a ticket but who decided only to come for incubus and Robert plant because they have no clue what they missed. The fact that he proposed to his wife during this show on that day made me like JYG even more. This was proof that they were really into this performance and therefore they I made sure i gave them support for their performance.
I kept on screaming "Go junkyard groove" and then Ameeth Thomas(Vocals+Rhythm guitar)
was like "Can anyone say what he said and was pointing at me" I was quite suprised and it felt pretty good. They deserved the support , and i wish i could hear all of their songs again looking forward to their album release.Their stage presence was really good too.
Heres some of the songs they performed
Feel like a knife -
Its ok (One of my favourites along with Thank you)..This is their actual performance:-
Thank you (This is not during DDR) Another one of my favourites :-
Prime circle
* Ross Learmonth - Vocals, rhythm guitar, primary songwriter
* Gerhard Venter - Drums, backing vocals, supporting songwriter
* Marco Gomes - Bass, supporting songwriter
* Dirk Bisschoff - Lead guitar, supporting songwriter
Another really good band, their songs were quite heavy but the singing was really good.Really enjoyed their first few songs ...they performed well and their bassist kept roaming about the stage. Their singer was quite lively and their music was good to jump about and go crazy to. Their singer was good and Im glad they werent screamo etc.. They played nice heavy music to get the crowd rockin. Some of their good songs were Hello , Shed my skin and Same goes for you.
No videos but here are some pictures-

The bravery
* Sam Endicott - vocals, guitar, programming
* Michael Zakarin - guitar, backing vocals
* Mike Hindert (Dirt) - bass, backing vocals
* John Conway - keyboards (mostly analogue), synthesizers, backing vocals
* Anthony Burulcich (Ant) - drums, backing vocals
When it was time for them to play i was really hungry and my stomach was hurting and my feet too and i was feeling quite sick ..I tried lasting out but i just cudnt i had to sacrifice my front row place for incubus and the bravery just for a non-tasty burger and a bottle of water ..although i did get a well deserved rest .
I saw the bravery's performance from a distance and the crowd was increasing at alarming rates ..They were all hear to see Incubus and Robert Plant and quite a few to see The bravery ..I must say the bravery performed really really well ..It started getting dark outside and they seemed to be enjoying being on stage and were running around stage quite a lot. I headed towards the front during their last two songs to get a good place for Incubus' performance. Their songs sounded even better as i went closer and closer to the stage and i quite enjoyed der last few songs..One of them even had some whistling in it.They made realy good use of all the sounds and lights and were the first band to perform once it was dark outside. Some of their songs were really really really good like Fearless , Public Service Announcement and Honest Mistake.

And then there was INCUBUS
Current Members
Brandon Boyd - Vocals, percussion
Mike Einziger - Guitar, piano, vocals
Jose Pasillas - Drums, percussion
Chris Kilmore - Turntables, keyboards, sound effects, mellotron, guitar
Ben Kenney - Bass guitar, vocals
I was able to get to the third row before Incubus started playing , Nishant was in the first row. When Incubus came on stage the crowd went crazy and everyone knew it was gonna be a great performance. They started of well but it was really crowded and everybody was more busy pushing other people and telling others to stop pushing that they couldnt see the show. They played Wish you were here , Drive , Megalomaniac and Are you in which are some of my favourites. Anna molly , which I didnt like when i first heard it at home sounded AMAZING live. They put a nice show on stage , and didnt use the lights provided by the event organizers as Brandon Boyd (Vocals) had brought his own lights.Their performance seemed to have gotten over way too fast or maybe it just felt that way , but still it was loads of fun to be in the crowd and just go crazy even though the crowd was jam packed.Wish you were here, Megalomaniac , A kiss to send us off , Anna molly and Light grenades were absolutely amazing , just brilliant they really got the crowd excited.People were throwing cushions everywhere and one of them flew on stage and hit their drummer while he was playing , that was kinda messed up. One song they didnt play was Agoraphobia.
Here are some videos-
Megalomaniac:
Drive:
Wish you were here:
Are you in:
Light grenades:
A kiss to send us off their opening song

And then there was
ROBERT PLANT AND THE STRANGE SENSATION
• John Baggott - keyboards and synthesizer
• Justin Adams - bass, bendir, lap steel guitar, mandolin, tehardant
• Clive Deamer - bendir and drums
• Billy Fuller - electric and stand-up bass
• Robert Plant - vocals, harmonica
• Skin Tyson - bass, acoustic, electric and lap steel guitars
I found it absolutely stupid that quite a few people were leaving after seeing Incubus, they dont know what they missed !!!...Robert plant was kick ass and though he got the name of the country wrong (he said UEA) its all good because his performance was woahh especially for some songs.Nishant allowed me to take his place in the front so that i could see Robert plant from the front row(THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT). RAMBLE ON , a song by Led Zeppelin was performed and trust me when I say that was the best song of the whole day, I was jumping throughout the song .The Strange Sensations played da song extremely well and its a must download for all you people out there .They also played Going to California which is really relaxing and peaceful to hear , Whole lotta love as their encore after the crowd asked them to return to the stage as they felt that their performance was awfully short and they wanted more. They also played Gallows pole, Four sticks (which was really good),Black dog (I dint enjoy how they played this song) and 2 or 3 of their own songs - One of them was Tin pan valley which was a song that builds up quite well and another being Shine it all around (my favourite out of their originals). He was dancing quite a lot on stage for those 2 songs.I would have liked them to perform Celebration day , Communication Breakdown , Good times bad times and Rock and Roll.
RAMBLE ON:(I couldnt find a video with the whole song so its divided into 2)
Part 1
Part 2
Shine it all around:
After the concert there were some good fireworks but I was too tired to see them. The shuttle bus ride back home was wierd.Sorry for taking a really long time to update my blog , it took me time to find good videos and also to gather pictures.Hope u guys enjoyed the post .I had to re -write the whole post twice and upload all the pictures three times so excuse me for putting the post up late and excuse any gramattical errors.Lots of other stuff took place if only i could remember.
Please tell me if i have left anything out because i know i'm forgetting something.

PS: You didn't even MENTION Dig !!
Dig's an amazing song but lets be honest , it was not half as entertaining as songs like Megalomaniac and A kiss to send us off or Light grenades. Although Dig is a kick ass song but a bit to slow , compared to the others and i wanted something upbeat at that time. Glad they performed it though.
I didnt record incubus jus took some videos from youtube :P.
So thank all those other smart people out there !!
